Foundations

Foundation walls are often the most neglected part of a structure they are actually the most structurally important part of the building .  It's critical that the structure requirements are met at the foundation has been waterproof insulated and allows for proper drainage.

What the depth of the foundation will vary from state to state location to location to meet the specific building requirements of your area in Michigan a minimum of a 42 inch foundation must be poured or constructed.  In warmer climates it may not be nearly as deep as the frost does not go down as far causing the foundations to shift heave.  When foundations are not bored to the proper Depp or built at the popcorn app cracks can form from settling. This can lead to framing being worked roofs and floors sagging and heaving.

Concrete block is a popular way to build a foundation concrete blocks are composed of Portland cement a fine aggregate and water. Box foundations provide adequate compressive strength and resistance to fire and moisture they do not require being formed or pouring concrete. Concrete block come in a range of sizes.

Port footings on the other hand call for the excavation of the area crunches our dog in the foundation area is formed and then concrete is poured into it typically a foundation wall should be 24 inches wide. Concrete footings for home or small structures need a compression strength of 2500 pounds per square inch or psi you can order footing makes either by specifying if IV bag makes which means are 5 bags of Portland cement to every cubic yard or by asking for a prescription mix one that is ordered by giving a PSI requirement.  Typically concrete for a footing is less compressively strong than that used for finishing as in a driveway. Typically driveways or finished concrete is a six bag mix.
There are two types of footings trench footings and formed footings.  Typically if the ground is solid simplest method is to trench the folding and pour it when dealing with a sandy or loose soil it is necessary to construct a form to pour your footing
